Pre-course, week 2

I was too tired to write in the last entry, with good reason! I did get to the top eventually though ^^ Even though I was the last one. Note to self: Don't get drunk the night before a hike. It kinda sucks.

But now is the time for me to tell my minions what I've been up to the last days here at Ørlandet!

There's one thing I should say first... WHY DIDN'T I BRING MY CAMERA?!?! Seriously! And while I'm at it, WHY DON'T I HAVE A PROPER VIDEOCAMERA?!?!?! My mobile phone isn't cut out to manage all the awesomeness I've experienced the last few days. So this has given me an agenda for what to do when I get to North Dakota:

  1. Get a car
  2. Get a drivers licence
  3. Drive to the nearest electronics shop
  4. Buy a fucking video camera
  5. While I'm there, buy some equipment for the mirror reflex camera as well
  6. And maybe an iPod
  7. A TV would probably be nice too

Hmm? Oh! Yes! What I've been up to... This place can make a grown up person (I am! At least on paper) into a little child.

See what I mean? It was AWESOME! Only wish they could take me for a spin too... Oh, well. We also got to see one of the Sea King helicopters up close, and later on they took a few low passes past the tower where we were standing ^^

When did I become this geeky? Jeez!

Another thing, the NATO AWACS plane was coincidentally here too, so we got the full tour inside the plane ^^ Sadly, we didn't get to take pictures inside of it, but here it is on the runway the day after.

It's got one of those radar thingies on top! Cool as hell. We actually got to stand close to the runway and watch it take off before we went on to visit the fire station at the airport. Huh... As I'm writing this, I'm getting a feeling I'm writing about a kindergarten school on a field trip to the local airport. But then again, I think that's about how I acted.

We also got to visit the meteorological office at Ørlandet, but as the guy who was telling us what they were doing I zoned out when I found this little beauty.

We got to hit the town last night too. Where I dissed a guy at the bar for drinking water. Boy was I wrong! In my defense, "Fjellbekk" is water where I come from. Learned myself a new drink, though.

Oh, and in case you're wondering about some of the acronyms (ref. entry number 2) I use, (yes, I'm pointing at you, first-born sibling) try a little webpage called urbandictionary. For instance; FML, FU and somewhere in the future, HBIC
